St Brendan's at The Aviva Stadium

The students of St Brendan's College, Bray visit the Aviva Stadium recently to learn about the process of recycling which the stadium carries out. The stadium in association with Green Star waste give the students a presentation within the press room of the stadium, the presentation how the stadium sets out to achieve a recycling rate of 70% throughout all operations. The students learned how is it necessary to provide bins with uniform colour coding in order for people to understand what waste is suitable for the varying waste streams. 

Following the presentation on recycling the students were treated to a tour of the stadium including the training facilities, dressing rooms and pitch.


Battle of the Bins

A week long 'Battle of Bins' competition was run amongst the first year students of the school. The competition challenged each class group to keep 2 areas within the school litter free. Daily prizes were given to the best preforming class and cinema afternoon was on offer to the best preforming class over the entire week. This competition gave the students a sense of ownership of the issue of litter and waste in their school thus empowering them to actively tackle the issue.
