Since the start of November St Annes has established a brand new committee allowing students across all years of the school to become involved with Green Schools. The new committee has a very active and very keen attitude towards attaining their first green flag this year. Their involvement in the Neat Streets programme will hopefully aid towards their goal.
The committee has recently completed the 'Neat Streets Baseline Survey' in which they identified that the recycling rate within the school was at only 4.5% and a number of Litter Black Spot located on school grounds but also in the wider community. The committee is currently working on an Action Plan to tackle the issue which is likely to include the purchasing of more recycling bins and also the running of competitions with the aim of highlight the new bins and the waste accepted in them with the aid of the An Taisce Neat Streets grant.
